Dr. Douglas J. Alterman received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University followed by his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1985. Upon completing his education, Dr. Alterman served two additional years as an active duty dental officer in the U.S. Navy and is a graduate of the General Practice Residency Program at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. He currently serves as a member of the dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

He has been in private practice since 1988 and has continued his dental education at the L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education, the Las Vegas Institute of Esthetic Dentistry, the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago, and many other educational seminars.

Dr. Alterman is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and is involved in numerous local study clubs. Dr. Alterman practices Esthetic Restorative Dentistry in beautiful downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
